{Teacher Tuesday - The Final Countdown}

It's true, it's true, it's REALLY true!  We are in the home stretch, y'all!  Today marks another day off the final countdown clock and knocks us down to 3 days until Summer Break!  It's so close I can taste it, and it tastes like sleeping in, laying out, getting fit, beachin' it in Punta Cana, DR with Ryan's family and all inclusive adult bevs, great times with friends, and summer school.  Wait, what?  Summer school's not fun.  Yeah, I know, but hear me out.

While not fully slothing it up this summer, I have agreed to teach summer school for 5 weeks out of my glorious 10 week or so holiday from school.  The money was too good for me to turn down, and with all our unfortunate mishaps at the beginning of the year it seemed like a good thing for our family.

But let's get back to the real fun...
SCHOOL'S OUT IN 3 DAYS!!!

The past few weeks have been jam-packed.  We took ACP tests in reading and math (AND PASSED! -- nearly everyone that is), participated in Field Day (without any major incidents or accidents!!), have packed up nearly everything in my room and stripped the walls (it's actually so sad because my room was still so cute!), tried to explain why peeing on a tree at recess is unacceptable to a student, dealt with some temper tantrums, laughed a lot, danced a lot, learned how to do the "Whip" and "Nene", will hand out awards tomorrow, will celebrate the last day of school with an ice cream partay on Friday, and will celebrate with my RQM staff on Saturday for a successful year.

I am beyond excited to see what my next year holds for me, but at the same time my heart hurts because leaving the staff, my kids, my new best friends, and the place I've called home for the last year is so bittersweet.  I am proud of myself for surviving, and I think doing a pretty bang up job, my first year especially given some of the circumstances at our school.  I am blessed to work THE BEST staff around.  My principal sure knows how to pick 'em.  I am grateful for such a friendly and caring group of administration with outstanding Principal, AP, office staff, and Instructional Coaches guiding me all year.

I am thankful for my crazy bunch of hooligan 2C Baylor Bears I have grown to love so, so dearly this year.  I never knew I could love some kids that have the ability to drive me so crazy some days, but love me so well other days so much.  While some of us have been at odds with one another more than others, I will miss each smiling, or sometimes frowning, face that has blessed my classroom this year.  I will continue to pray for them, reprimand and laugh with them in my dreams, brainstorm ways to help them, and for their families and home lives.  They will 150% be in my heart and mind forever.

All of these pieces to this whirlwind of a first year puzzle have led me to this moment, this week, this time in my life.  Through tears of joy and laughter, moments of madness and chaos, tests of patience and nerve, triumphs and victories, RQM has shaped me as an educator.  Each piece, staff member, student, parent has helped mold me in my early stages of teaching, and for that I cannot say anything but "Thank You".  I'm tearing up writing this, though it's not what I expected.  I know with 100% certainty, I will cry Friday.  Thank you RQM, for a fantastic year.  You will never be forgotten!!
